911 calls poured into the Los Angeles dispatch call center on Friday morning, April 5th. Over 100 firefighters arrived to massive flames streaming out of the one-story clothing store. Firefighters took an aggressive approach to putting out the fire by starting from the roof and the inside, but they quickly recognized this was too dangerous and redirected the approach to the outside. Rescuers also used a newer tactic with remote-controlled robots to extinguish flames. Firefighters allowed the materials in the building to burn down so the water could get to the center of the fire. Four hours later, the roof collapsed, and the building was demolished.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the aftermath of the fire. The owners of Main Sports, who had been running their business for over 30 years, were left reeling from the surprising disaster. They had never anticipated such a disastrous event. The company, mostly in clothing and textiles, saw its stock consumed by the flames. Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of this devastating fire, a process that will undoubtedly take time.
