A huge fire destroyed a longtime grocery store in Southfield, Michigan, on April 8. Shortly after 1:00 a.m., the Southfield Fire Department received a call stating that a three-alarm blaze was at Plum Hollow Market. Fire crews from neighboring departments—including Royal Oak, Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Madison Heights, Ferndale, and West Bloomfield- rushed to help. Rescuers initially attempted to fight the flames inside the building, but intense heat and strong winds forced them to retreat and continue battling the blaze from outside. Despite their combined efforts, the fire destroyed the store.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the fire completely destroyed Plum Hollow Market, a family-owned corporation that had served the community for over 50 years. The market was a local staple known for its home-cooked meals, fine wines, and seasonal produce. Neighboring businesses also encountered smoke and water damage. Firefighters remained at the site through Wednesday evening to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. The Salvation Army provided support at the scene, offering assistance where needed. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
