Smoke billowed into the air early Monday morning on June 23rd as a fire engulfed a Menifee, Riverside County tire shop. The building is located on a quarter-acre tire lot along Highway 74 and 2nd Street. The fire quickly spread to nearby properties, fueled by the tires outside the shop. The flames reached over 20 feet high and became a danger to those around the building. Over 60 firefighters were on the scene within minutes of the call, along with 13 fire engines.

The fire will continue to be investigated, and the cause remains unknown. Thankfully, no injuries occurred, but some residents were displaced, as well as one dog taken in for smoke inhalation. The fire damaged four buildings, one of which was a family-owned restaurant that was mainly impacted by water damage. The Environmental Health Department was contacted to ensure no issues with air quality. The gas and electricity companies were also called in to make sure power lines were shut off. The fire was contained by 7:00 a.m. that morning.
