Firefighters extinguish the cement plant fire

On August 4, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., several 911 callers reported seeing smoke at the cement plant on Suck Creek Road. The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) dispatched numerous companies, who observed thick smoke billowing while en route. Because the cement plant's infrared detection system sensed the fire early, personnel triggered emergency protocols and promptly notified the fire department. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a large exterior tire chip storage area fully engulfed in flames.

To combat this fire at the commercial cement plant, rescuers immediately launched firefighting actions, arranging aerial master streams and several hose lines to drench the flames. CFD's Special Operations Division utilized drones to monitor and identify hot spots.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Officials confirmed the fire at the commercial cement plant originated in the solid tire fuel storage building. The Plant Manager commends the quick response of both emergency and plant staff, emphasizing their commitment to protection. Additionally, the site is taking further measures to reduce the likelihood of similar occurrences.

Firefighters had the fire under control without disrupting plant operations. Signal Mountain, East Ridge, and Dallas Bay fire departments helped CFD by handling other calls throughout the incident. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

The cement company reiterated that safety remains its maximum priority and expressed gratitude for the rapid and coordinated efforts that kept employees and responders safe. The business remains committed to fostering strong community relations and implementing enhanced fire prevention measures.
