The sky of North Whitehall, PA, lit up following an explosion on April 22, shortly after 1 AM at the property of a pair of trucking companies. The two-alarm fire prompted over 70 firefighters from multiple counties to respond. Flames reached heights of up to 200 feet. Authorities called in tanker trucks carrying thousands of gallons of water from neighboring counties to assist. Firefighters could not get inside the building and had to fight the fire from above using five aerial teams. The roof eventually collapsed, prompting the authorities to gate off the property due to safety concerns.

Black smoke and flames billow in the air Monday morning.

No injuries were reported however, one person was trapped inside but later found safe. North Whitehall fire officials are still looking into the cause of the explosion. There are many theories as to what happened that Monday morning, but investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. The companies reportedly had several trucks, and storage of tires, diesel fuel, and other combustible items that could be a potential fire hazard. The building was occupied by Doctor Diesel and OCS Transport on Kernsville Road. It is unknown if automatic sprinklers were provided in the building.

Crews continue to extinguish hot spots using a combination of water and foam.
