On March 21st, massive wildfires in the Carolinas, South Carolina and western North Carolina, spread quickly across 10 acres. The blaze continues to burn and is now over 1,000 acres. Several aircraft are providing aerial support, including South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) helicopter and air tankers equipped. Blackhawk and CH47 Chinook helicopters from the 238th General Support Aviation Battalion, 59th Aviation Troop Command are also supporting the firefighting efforts. Rescuers on the ground are currently using fire trucks and tractors to excavate containment tracks around the fire's perimeter.

Officials have closed all nearby trails; furthermore, they have banned residents from burning anything until further notice and have evacuated some residents from their homes as a precaution. Authorities have informed others to close doors and windows due to the thick smoke. Officials urge those who have respiratory issues to limit outdoor exposure. Authorities report no significant injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
