On Wednesday afternoon, October 16th, a series of explosions led firefighters to a propane facility in the Brookshire area of Texas on FM 529. Nearby businesses and county cameras could see the black smoke filling the air. Employees were inside at the time of the explosion but remained unsure about how it occurred. The crew raised concerns that the fire was spreading to the nearby 30-acre grass field, as the weather was windy that afternoon.

Waller – Harris Emergency Services District (ESD) had the fire under control within hours of arrival. Unfortunately, one injury did occur, but 13 others evacuated unharmed. RapidXchange Production is a facility that fills and exchanges propane tanks. The explosions and fire involved hundreds of propane tanks. Investigators stated the incident started during a propane transfer from container to container. Despite the explosions and the black smoke, the air quality was tolerable, and no businesses were affected. The incident looks to be accidental, but officials will continue to investigate.

RapidXchange has established itself as a leader in propane tank exchange services, offering a safe and streamlined platform across 18 states. Despite a past incident at another facility in 2018, the company remains committed to providing safe exchange services. With partnerships spanning hardware, grocery, and convenience stores, RapidXchange continues to expand its network, ensuring customers receive clean, well-maintained propane tanks at easily accessible locations.
