On August 18, 2025, a two-alarm fire broke out in an aircraft manufacturing and repair facility near the San Antonio International Airport, forcing the evacuation of over 100 employees from a high-tech manufacturing plant. Fire crews responded quickly as tanks containing hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide, both highly hazardous chemicals, were threatened.
Thick black smoke and multiple explosions heightened concerns, but no injuries were reported. While the fire was contained, roughly 1,000 gallons of chemicals leaked from two 500-gallon tanks. Fire suppression efforts diluted the spill, and officials have stated there is no danger to the public. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
